Burke BandsConcert / Prep / Marching / Jazz / Pep

Concert Band serves as the core ensemble for the Burke Band Program. Prep Band is comprised of freshmen band students and is an ensemble that serves as a transition ensemble into the high school band experience. The Prep Band will continue to sharpen technical skills, musicianship, and musical understanding through studying and performing standard band literature and working in chamber groups. It is in this ensemble that student-musicians continue to develop musicianship, understanding, appreciation, and sharpen the skills necessary to give outstanding musical performances as a member of the Burke Instrumental Program. Burke Jazz Band is a ensemble that is solely dedicated to development of jazz studies. This ensemble meets during the day and competes at several Jazz Competitions in the region.

Band students perform in marching band, concert bands, jazz bands and pep band. Members of the Burke Band participate in community, district and state level performances including Burke Concerts, Burke Musicals, All City, Omaha Area Youth Orchestra, District Music Contest and All State Band.

Burke OrchestrasChamber Strings / Orchestra

Burke orchestra students play in one of the our two ensembles, Chamber Strings and Orchestra. Students study playing technique and musicianship through the rehearsal and performance of outstanding literature from various periods of music history. Students work to develop both individual and ensemble skills.
Members of the Burke Orchestra participate in community, district and state level performances including Burke Concerts, Burke Musicals, All City, Omaha Area Youth Orchestra, District Music Contest and All State Orchestra.

Burke Color Guard

The Color Guard performs as a visual element of the Burke Marching Band during the Fall; and competes locally, regionally, and nationally as a Winter Guard unit during the Winter. The Winter Guard competes in the Heartland Winter Arts Association (HWAA) and the Winter Guard International (WGI) circuits.

Membership in the Color Guard is open to any student with or without prior band/instrumental music experience and is determined by auditions held during the Spring for the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons. Students interested in auditioning for the Color Guard are encouraged to attend pre-audition guided help and practice sessions held in the weeks leading up to the audition days. For more information, please contact the Band Office at (402) 557-3252 or email the directors.
