Welcome! We are happy to offer a wide range of math courses including AP and Dual Enrollment options.

The Burke High School Mathematics Department understands that mathematical power will only be developed if students are actively engaged in doing mathematics and that how mathematics is taught is just as important as what is taught. At Burke, our students experience an enriching mathematics curriculum and instruction that emphasizes students' ability to reason to solve problems, to communicate ideas mathematically, and to make connections between mathematics and other disciplines.

Curriculum and Instruction
The Burke High School Mathematics Department understands that mathematical power will only be developed if students are actively engaged in doing mathematics and that how mathematics is taught is just as important as what is taught. At Burke, our students experience an enriching mathematics curriculum and instruction that emphasizes students' ability to reason to solve problems, to communicate ideas mathematically, and to make connections between mathematics and other disciplines.

Enrichment Opportunities
In addition to traditional offerings of Algebra and Geometry, Burke students have the opportunity to explore mathematics at an accelerated pace. Our honors curriculum includes Geometry Honors, Algebra 3-4 Honors, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry Honors, Enrichment Mathematics Honors, Advanced Placement Calculus AB, Advanced Placement Calculus BC, Calculus 3 Honors, Differential Equations Honors, and Advanced Placement Statistics.

Technology Experiences
Burke students are exposed to a technology-rich mathematics curriculum. Graphing calculators and computers allow students to investigate mathematical ideas from different perspectives resulting in deeper mathematical understanding.

Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Classes
The Burke mathematics curriculum offers students numerous enrichment opportunities. We offer AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics.  Beyond the AP curriculum, we also offer Honors Calculus 3 and Honors Differential Equations.  All of these courses are offered with a Dual Enrollment option through the University of Nebraska-Omaha.  The following list shows the number of credit hours available for each course:
AP Calculus AB:  5 credit hours
AP Calculus BC:  2 semesters for 5 credit hours each, or a total of 10 credit hours
AP Statistics:  3 credit hours
Honors Calculus 3:  3 credit hours
Honors Differential Equations:  3 credit hours
